So much exciting stuff going on in the next few weeks.

Off to the studio on thursday to hear some mixes of the new CD, so so SO stoked to hear them :D We’ve been listening to crappy demos for weeks now.

Then on Friday we’re playing Little Buddha Bar, Huddersfield for the brilliant ‘Timeless Music Festival’ team (http://bringbacktimelessfestival.tumblr.com/). After this we’re getting our lovely housemate Rob to film us playing in a nearby subway! Gonna do a lovely acoustic version for a new song :)

Artwork is coming along nicely, the packaging has been ordered and we’ve got the launch night booked. BOOOOOOOOM.

Wow, this week has been incredible for the band. We started by finishing off the electric guitars for the EP, cannot explain how HUGE its sounding!!Since then we’ve been cracking on with vocals! Its interesting how we’re each suited to a different mic. Dave - AKG414, Prowse - Neumann M149, Me (Frazer) - Neumann u87. Routed them through the Avalon and then the 1176 for some nice outboard compression on the way in (not too much though, save that for the mix). Just one more day left in the studio, just got to finish the BVs (backing vocals) and add extra bits like synths and percussion etc. Last night we played in the university BOTB, we were really bricking it. A mixture of us playing awfully in the soundcheck, that combined with how fucking awesome local band ‘Escape Artist’ are. Needless to say, we absolutely NAILED our performance. Alright we may not have played perfectly at times but it was a proper performance. After watching all the bands, it was clear it was between us and EA…we won by just two votes!!Onto the final we role, can’t wait :D

Permalink Fantastic day of recording piano today. Started with the grand piano, two 414s as a spaced pair inside and a gorgeous set of DPA 4006 for an ambient XY pair. Oh yeah, and the room had a soundfield mic installed in the ceiling.Adding the piano to the recordings, which were only drums and acoustic guitar before, has really brought them to life. Electric guitar next, then bass, finally followed by vocals! Can’t wait to get this out in March!
